Postnatal ‘Mum and Bub’ support

Routine postnatal and neonatal checks
Management of complications, and early life challenges

Even with medical training in obstetrics and child health, and a library of parenting literature, Cassie herself felt unprepared for the postnatal period. She remains concerned by the amount of conflicting information and unrealistic expectations imposed by society on newborns and parents.

She feels fortunate to be assisted by a supportive team to overcome early feeding challenges and has breastfeed her two children for the past 5 years. After finding the Possums approach useful for her own parenting journey, she has undertaken additional training in evidence-based Neuroprotective Developmental Care, breastfeeding and holistic sleep support. She has completed most requirements for IBCLC certification and is awaiting exam results. She has continued her sometimes-obsessional study across these topics and will always attempt to summarise these for time-poor parents and direct them towards relevant concise resources.

Services provided:

  • Routine checks for both mum and baby (1-2 and 6 weeks)

  • Management of postnatal complications and infant concerns

  • Advice on introduction of solids, fussy eating and behavioural challenges

  • Perinatal mental health support and the emotional transition to parenting
